January 26, 2012

Cat 390DL Excavator Parts – Today is the third picture of my progress on the 1/8th scale Cat excavator model. This photo shows the right side panels , the grab handles along the top, the right side walkway , the right side ladder and the exhaust stack . Tomorrow I will begin on the rear wall of the body and the rear counterweight parts. Still got a lot to go back and do but now I can start to see early progress and now it becomes fun for me.
Have a great Thurs.

First snowhill in backyard for grandson

January 25, 2012

Gaylord snow – Well, the day of pouring rain melted a lot of our snow but you can see this picture I took of Deb next to the smaller hill in the backyard in the corner. I can stack it 10 feet high with the tractor blade and then turn around and stack it much higher with the snowblower . But Deb said to be careful because she thinks some of the snow went over the fence so we could be getting a unpleasant phone call, ha,ha.
I used to make snowhills every winter for the daycare kids and they had so much fun. It’s been three winters since Deb quit daycare so now I am practicing snow hill building for Terak , tee, hee.
Erskine Snowblower Chain – This afternoon I inspected the drive chain on the 84 in. snowblower and decided it was time to replace it. I bought a new one five years ago but decided to change it today, ha,ha.
Cat 390DL Parts- I almost have the right side of the body roughed in. Tomorrow I’ll post the next progress picture.
Have a great Wed. !!

Cat Excavator parts- Todays picture is the second progress picture showing the left side of the revolving body. You can see where i have cut out the opening for the cooling screens and attached steel perforated metal. You can also see the first safety railings , the cut in steps behind the cab and the left side walkway is bent , drilled and attached with all the support bracing under it. Now I am working on the right side of the body.
Gaylord Thunderstorms on Jan. 23rd . It is unheard of in Otsego County to get thunderstorms along with pouring rain for several hours . The ground is so cold and snowcovered it turned to ice . We got some 36 degree temps today for 6 hours and then back to freezing again . Area schools are closed again with no way to salt every road in the county . The kids are sure getting a long Jan. break . Our driveway and backyard is a glare of ice.
Day 21 of eating healthy and counting calories.
Have a great Monday !!
