Wife helps husband cut diesel fuel costs by using her mint condition Bobcat Loader on overpass job.

June 30, 2008

MIKE AND JULIE – Here is a picture Mike sent me , Mike is another long time E-mail friend.
He said with the crazy fuel prices these days for his equipment , his wife Julie took the day off from her high paying job and got her mint condition Bobcat Loader off the shelf to help him. She thought is could cut fuel costs in half, LOL
I can’t remember for sure what he said the project was, but I think he said it was a major freeway overpass job? either that or a new deck in the back yard, ha,ha,ha.
BEAUTIFUL MONDAY MORNING – Deb has the day off so we slept in a little and then got our morning hour walk done.
I had planned on working in the shop today but I suddenly changed my mind and decided to spend the day with my lovely wife .
She reminded me of all the 10 hour Saturdays I worked all winter so we could have fun this summer. That;s all it took !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
So I’m playing hooky TODAY afterall (:>) and we are heading to Traverse City for the day, yipee !!
FUEL PRICES – Who CARES !! Life is so short, in a few weeks it will be cold and snowy and we will have 6 more months of winter .
Good CALL, DEB !!
HOPE YOU ALL HAVE A FUN MONDAY LIKE US !!!!!!!!!!!

St.Ignace 2008 Car Show Redneck Party Van

June 29, 2008

ST.IGNACE CAR SHOW – Often when we go to a car show we see the same cool cars year after year. Very rare we see something unique that really catches our eye.
And It isn’t always the fancy paint jobs and the months and months and sometimes years of hard work someone puts in their vehicle that makes it stand out.
This fellow is one of those cases. It’s easy to see he was very creative, but he was also being very conservative to keep conversion costs down. To think the average person could convert any vehicle to a full time party vehicle is very imaginative. During the winter months it looks like it could easily be removed and used on the back of the mobile home as a nice deck. (:>).
The best thing about it was he bolted everything to the floor . So he can drive all over town or on the freeway and if he spots any friends with a couple six packs of beer, they can just stop anywhere and enjoy the day and have the best view too , ha,ha.
Or in heavy stop and go traffic, the wife could climb up and fire up the grill and get him a nice hot grilled burger , lol .
The funny thing about it was Deb and I sat down on a ledge eating ice cream cones close to this party van for a while watching peoples reactions as they spotted this rare , unique car show vehicle.
They would all look at it and look at each other and look at it again and whisper to each other and laugh. But it didn’t take long for us to see this guy was no dummy !!!
He would look at them right in the eyes and yell to them !!
( ” I KNOW EXACTLY WHAT YOU ARE THINKING ” ) !!!!!!
And he would say very nice to them, and
( ” NO, IT ISN’T FOR SALE ” )
So Keep Dreaming !!
That was very funny and everyone would walk by laughing after he said it . So sometimes( less is more ) as I always say as this guy got more attention than many of the classic cars , ha,ha.
In fact, this van is what we will remember most from the car show and not the classic cars. LOL
SUNDAY MESSAGE- As God’s helpers we don’t need to look like perfect Christians to help get his word out to crowds of people. Sometimes we just need to be ourselves and even include a little humor.
Each week I try to share a little message and a little humor too, hoping I have given a postive step for someone in the right direction who is going through very tough times right now.
As millions of people continue to lose their homes and there jobs maybe America will slowly come together to be nicer to each other again.
Sometimes it isn’t until we are down on our luck and have lost everything and are at the very bottom of our lives that we finally look up to the sky for help from God.
9-11 – I always try to see the good is something bad and as sad as 9-11 was, I did see that America came together like it hadn’t done for many years. Neighbors talked to neighbors again, people in stores were freindlier , more people went to church , etc.
But just a year later things were back to the way they were before.
So hopefully with so many people going through tough times again people will get closer .
Sometimes I wonder why God hasn’t given us any clear signs he is tired of America and what is has become .
When I pray , I often ask God to give us good, clear signs to wake us all up , we aren’t real bright when it comes to signs. (:<).
I do have days I see what is going on in the world and think, Is God trying to tell us something ????
FOR AMERICA TO IGNORE THE BIBLE IS INVITING DISASTER
Have a nice Sunday with the ones you love

St. Ignace Car Show 2008 brings back memories for Don Campbell and the early style school bus he rode.

GAYLORD GAS PRICES – We see this morning our unleaded regular gas in Gaylord, Michigan is now $429.9 a gallon. And the future prices being quoted on Wall Street this week don’t sound good.
ST. IGNACE CAR SHOW- Deb and I drove up to St. Ignace to the car show yesterday and had a fun day . We ran into a few people and enjoyed visiting with them as the cool cars cruised by all afternoon.
We also saw and stopped and visited with Deb’s sister Kandy and her husband John who had there nicely restored Mustang parked along the road along with many other very nice classic cars.
It’s been 8 years since Deb had talked to anyone in her family so it was fun to see Deb and Kandy laughing and talking about our kids like old times again. We used to do a lot with them when we were younger .
It’s too bad families grow apart so much these days .
Deb is the black sheep in the family so she has been shunned by the rest of her family for over 35 years.
It’s easy for me to see why she never fit into the family and why she was considered the black sheep .
Deb never drank, smoked, cussed or caused trouble , she was very kind , a very hard worker , a excellent wife and a excellent mom.
These were all things her family frowned on and saw and labeled her as weird !!
I was always into that kind of weird stuff , (:>). So Deb was exactly what I had been waiting for , ha,ha.
And me being very innocent 35 years ago and Deb being a year older than me and more street wise , she took advantage of me ha,ha,ha!!!
And here we sit 35 years later very happy, still very ambitious , and very proud of Nicole and Bill and I couldn’t ask for a better best friend to go places with (:>).
So I guess I needed a black sheep like Deb to make my life perfect, ha,ha. Thanks Deb for a great life, YOU ANIMAL !!!
SCHOOL BUS- Here is a cool picture of me standing next to a very cool school bus . It sure did remind me of all those years waiting for the bus to stop for school as a little boy. My memory must be starting to go as I can’t remember my bus looking exactly like this , LOL
TRAVERSE CITY CHERRY FESTIVAL – Next week starts the Traverse City Cherry Festival . Deb and I always make the drive over in our motorhome and enjoy the daily festivities. And the best thing is all the pies and snacks are made from cherries. And cherries are very healthy for you , ha,ha.
FOURTH OF JULY CAMPING – We have not taken the motorhome yet this year camping because of the high gas prices. Something about spending over $200.00 at the gas pump has gotten us out of the camping mood, ha,ha.
HAVE A NICE SATURDAY

The picture below this one shows me checking out one of 100’s of cool hot rods at the St.Ignace Car Show 2008.
